GSA Certification
What is a GSA Schedule?
The GSA schedule provides an open ended contract with a government supplier that guarantees the government "best customer status" regarding pricing for products and services. The general duration for this open ended contract or GSA schedule is 5 years. These schedules are awarded to large and small businesses alike.
How do I get on the GSA Schedule?
See step by step instructions under GSA Information Menu Page.
How do I get an order once I am on a GSA Schedule?
The firm must market itself to the federal government. Being on the schedule only gives the firm the opportunity to be the chosen as a supplier. For example if you provide construction services, the firm might contact local Army bases to make sure that engineers and purchasing agents are aware that the construction firm is on a schedule and offers services that the base purchases.
What is meant by Best Value?
The orders that are awarded against GSA Schedules are done so by the "Best Value" method. This is done by using factors other than price, such as probable life of the item or unit, warranty, specific features, energy efficiency, maintenance availability and qualifications of the schedule holders.
Can small businesses compete against larger firms on GSA Schedules?
Yes, for the following reasons
  • Agencies are encouraged to utilize small businesses as much as possible.
  • Agencies have goals for awarding prime contracts to small businesses.
